After three long years of the Korean War, the United States, North Korea, China, South Korea, and the Soviet Union came to an agreement for an armistice that ended the war. When the armistice was signed on July 27th, 1953, it established a representative from all neutral countries to decide what was going to happen to the thousands of prisoners of war on both sides. After the war had ended, a new border stood between North and South Korea, giving South Korea more territory. Before the armistice was signed, the United Nations asked North Korea to stand down, but when they didn't, they made nuclear threats. The Korean War is very important in history because it impacted the world and it is still going on today. It relates to the theme Conflict/Compromise, because North Korea Started it all by attacking South Korea and an armistice was signed to end the war.
Quote: "The United Nations Security Council demanded that North Korea would stop fighting and withdraw to the border along the 38th parallel (8 things to know)."
This picture shows everyone coming together to end the war by signing an armistice (armistice).
